Amazon's 100 Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books You Should Read Before You Die
There are hundreds upon hundreds of lists out there of "books you should read before you die," but they usually focus solely on literary fiction. Now, Amazon has created a list of absolutely essential reading for any sci-fi/fantasy fan, spanning every time period, age bracket, and interest.

Among the more contemporary picks, there are several that are either adapted into film and television, or will be very soon. These include The Martian by Andy Weir, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, World War Z by Max Brooks, Annihilation by Jeff Van Der Meer, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and of course, Game of Thrones.

Lovecraft, I, Robot by Isaac Asimov, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, Dune by Frank Herbert, and Lord of the Rings, as well as classic literature that happens to be science fiction, such as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, 1984 by George Orwell, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, The Time Machine by H.G.
