Justice League Dark To Begin Filming in 2016
Justice League Dark is really a relatively new DC title, as it's first issue was released back in 2011 in the beginning of the New 52 era. Fans of the series were excited to hear that with the inception of the DC Cinematic Universe, Justice League Dark would also play a part at some point down the road as well. In fact, legendary director Guillermo Del Toro was set to direct the film under the title 'Dark Universe.' Sadly, he dropped out of the project a few months ago and the fate of the comic adaption was left in the balance. Now it's being reported that producer Scott Rudin has been put in charge of the film, and that things are finally starting to move forward.

There's no news as to who will direct the film, but Rudin is supposedly in the business of approaching directors now. Likewise, no actors have been confirmed to have roles in the film as of yet either. Still, the film will begin shooting sometime in 2016, most likely late in year.

Del Toro is still on board with the film as a producer, and he's announced in the past that he planned on using characters such as Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, and Etrigan The Demon to make up the team. Justice League Dark focuses on the darker, magical, and mystical side of the DC Universe, so it's sure to bring something to the table that no other comic book movie to date has ever attempted before.

Of course, this magical and mystical side of things is sure to play a part in next year's Suicide Squad as well. With characters like Enchantress and El Diablo on the team, one has to wonder if some of the events that take place in the film could end up tying into Justice League Dark. Perhaps there'll even be some characters cross over; though it's hard to tell with members of the Suicide Squad, it's not uncommon for them to quite literally lose their heads during their time on the team.

Making a movie like Justice League Dark is sure to be a bold move. The characters who make up the magical troupe most certainly aren't your average superheroes, and non-superhero comic book movies don't usually do as well at the box office when compared to more conventional superhero films. Then again, making a movie centered around a team of villains and anti-heroes was a bold move as well, and it seems like fans may be even more excited for Suicide Squad than they are Batman v Superman! Only time will tell if these risky moves end up paying off for DC, but if they do, they're sure to pay off big.
