Charlize Theron's Imperator Furiosa Unlikely to Appear in the Next Mad Max Movie
She was undoubtedly the heart and soul of George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road, but it seems unlikely that Charlize Theron's Imperator Furiosa will feature in the filmmaker's next Mad Max movie. In a new interview, Miller revealed that Furiosa didn't really feature in the initial script for the Mad Max sequel, but did seem to hint that things could change.

Opening quote
"I'm not sure, is the answer. She's not in the Mad Max [sequel] story, but in one of the stories there's an interaction between [Max and Furiosa]," Miller told Digital Spy before adding "I can't really say more than that because it's still in progress."
Closing quote

This is obviously going to come as a huge surprise to many fans of the movie. Theron's performance of the 'Imperator with a heart' was the driving force behind Fury Road, so it's hard to imagine a sequel without her. But let's not forget that this franchise is named after another character, and with Max going off on his own at the end of the 2015 hit, it's perfectly understandable that Miller would want to focus on the franchise's protagonist.

This might also go some way to explaining why Theron was, as late as this Summer, unaware of plans for a Mad Max sequel. But, given that Miller and Nico Lauthoris had drawn up long ago what they labelled "deep backstories" for the characters of this sequel, it's possible they didn't realize how much of a hit Furiosa would be with fans. Whether or not they see enough to bring Theron in for more than just an 'interaction' in the sequel remains to be seen, but I'm sure a bit of fan outrage couldn't hurt the decision making process. So if you want Furiosa to be in the sequel, start shouting about it before it's too late.
