Mike Colter Gives Details on 'Luke Cage'
We'll get out first glimpse at Mike Colter as Luke Cage in Netflix's Jessica Jones next month, but it won't be until next year when Cage's own show premieres on the streaming service. We don't know a ton about what that series will entail, but Colter recently shared some details in an interview with comicbook.com. The 39-year-old actor says of Luke Cage

Opening quote
"I can tell you what they've allowed me to, which is basically, Luke Cage will take place a few months after Jessica Jones. So in real time, if you watch Jessica Jones, you'll find [at the end] Luke Cage uptown in Harlem, working, trying to make ends meet. Luke Cage really hasn't figured out what he's doing. He's tending bar, he's bouncing around. And for good reason, he's a fugitive, he has some skeletons in his closet. He's trying to basically stay off the radar. The people he hangs around with, though, are in need. Ultimately, he'd rather be alone, but with the way he's equipped he does step up. That's what it's about, it's about finding that inner feeling to make you want to take action. Sometimes we just sit around, and sit on our hands and don't do anything because it's like, 'Hey, that's not my problem.' You can't do that when you're a superhero. You have these gifts, now use them."
Closing quote

It looks like Netflix's Marvel properties will finally exit New York's Hell's Kitchen - for a neighborhood about fifty blocks uptown. Harlem may not be so far away geographically, but if Colter says it will be a different world than Hell's Kitchen then that's good enough for us. We're also digging this whole "reluctant hero" thing Cage seems to have going on, and we're wondering if that might come into a Hero For Hire situation down the line with Iron Fist. Fingers crossed.

As if this weren't enough Luke Cage excitement for one day, Colter also revealed that Cage will use his catchphrase, "Sweet Christmas!" in the series, and says he was shocked by how well it works within the show.

Sweet Christmas, that's awesome! Hey, look at that, it does work!
