Neill Blomkamp Lets Us All Know He's Still Working on His Alien Movie by Sharing New Pulse Rifle Image

You could be forgiven for filing Neill Blomkamp's Alien movie under 'Movies I'm Excited For But Are Too Far Away For Regular Hype', but the South African director is unperturbed by recent setbacks and he wants you all to know it. Despite the fact that his movie has now been pushed back to 2018 to give Ridley Scott's Alien: Paradise Lost some breathing room, Blomkamp is taking to social media in an attempt to drum up the buzz that he knows will be essential to keeping momentum on his project going.

On Instagram yesterday, Blomkamp shared an image of his movie's take on one of Sci-Fi's classic weapons....the Pulse Rifle.

We all knew there would be pulse rifles. Obviously. Now with added RIS

The added RIS Blomkamp is talking about refers to a Rail Integration System, which essentially allows the user to add all kinds of cool pieces of kit. With attachments ranging from scopes to bayonets to goodness knows what else, it looks like Alien 5's Pulse Rifles are going to be far more varied than their predecessors.

Unfortunately, it might be a while before we see this bad boy in action, because Blomkamp's Alien project remains without a production schedule, and even though he's still beavering away on the project, even the South African himself appears to have admitted that he may have to look for something to fill the time between now and Alien 5's production date.

Time for something new
