New X-Files Trailer Released
While it may have been overshadowed by another trailer that was released on the same day for Star Wars or something like that (?), the 2016 X-Files reboot aired its newest promo video during an episode of Gotham on Monday, and it features some brand new footage. Yay, new footage!

In the promo, Mulder starts out by talking about how we're always under surveillance, and says that we're not any safer because of it (is he going all-Edward Snowden on us?). In fact, he says we've never been in more danger. We then get a good old school intro of the two agents by Scully where they flash their FBI badges, so it looks like they're back with the Bureau.

But perhaps the most interesting part of the trailer is when Mulder boldly declares: "What if our work, the X-Files, what if everything we've been led to believe in is a lie?" Does this mean the series is retconning itself? Are they explaining away the aliens as a hoax perpetuated by the U.S. Government? That would definitely be a huge bombshell, since if there's one thing we learned from The X-Files it's that aliens are most definitely real. However, a retcon would go a long way toward explaining why the 2012 alien invasion we heard about in the 2002 series finale never occurred (or did it?).

Or, maybe we're just reading too much into this whole thing. Check out the video below and draw your own conclusions.
