David S. Goyer Says Batman v Superman Screening Made Him 'Giddy,' Reveals When Sandman Starts Production
David S. Goyer has served as producer and/or writer on every Batman film for the last decade, as well as Man of Steel, and is now co-writing Batman v Superman and both Justice League films. So needless to say, he's a big DC fan, and fellow DC fans will be relieved to know that his reaction to the first screening of Batman v Superman was "giddy":

Opening quote
"I think just the kind of giddiness in being a kid that grew up going to the comic book store every Saturday and reading comic books in which these two epic characters clashed," Goyer told Collider when asked about his reaction to seeing the movie for the first time. "Just the fact that I got to be involved in something like that is crazy. Much less that I got to be involved in two cinematic iterations of Batman is also crazy."
Closing quote

Although he's keeping any actual details close to the vest for obvious reasons, it's good to know that he was happy with the film as a comic book fan as well as an industry professional. Hopefully this means that they've honored the comic book versions of the characters, although he was also responsible for Man of Steel, so there are no guarantees.

Goyer also gave an update on the long-gestating Sandman, which he is "confident" will finally go into production in 2016:

Opening quote
"We're just about to do a new draft. All of the Vertigo properties ported over to New Line a few months ago. There was a decision from the higher-ups that New Line would focus on the Vertigo properties and Warner Bros would focus on the DC properties. So we're just starting a re-write with a really fantastic writer that fans of your site will enjoy that's coming aboard, but I can't quite announce it yet.

I think that the Vertigo properties are a bit more quirky and off-center than kind of the mainstream superhero stuff at Warners. But I understand the decision because we're not having to fight for release dates with the Vertigo stuff like we would have been having to do over at Warner Bros. But I feel confident that film will go into production hopefully next year."
Closing quote

Warner Bros has been trying to adapt Sandman into a film for some time, but the latest iteration is the first to really gain some momentum. It has Joseph Gordon-Levitt on board to direct and possibly star, and Goyer set to produce. There's no word on this mystery co-writer, but Jack Thorne originally penned this version of the script.
