Box Office Analysts Predict Star Wars: The Force Awakens Will Score Biggest Opening of All Time
Experts are predicting that JJ Abrams and Star Wars: The Force Awakens will break the record for the largest box office opening of all time. BoxOffice.com just released their long-term predictions, and they're saying that the overwhelming reaction to the movie's trailers coupled with the backing of Disney will ensure see The Force Awakens bring in a massive $215 million over the course of its opening weekend, comfortably beating Jurassic World's current record of $208m.

As well as the fact that Star Wars: The Force Awaken's trailers have received record viewing numbersBoxoffice.com's team suggested that the overwhelming response to the big Force Friday merchandising event provides more evidence that history will be made come December 18th.

It's certainly hard to argue with the evidence on show so far. When ticket sales first started last week they came pretty close to breaking the internet, forcing numerous ticketing sites to crash under the sheer weight of traffic coming in to them. Many opening screenings have sold out across the US, prompting some people to flip their tickets on Ebay for ridiculous sums of money.

So, who's responsible for all the chaos? Well, a recent study found that you've got middle-aged dudes to thank for all the brouhaha, with over 70% of all tickets being purchased by men with an average age of 34. The data goes on to suggest that the chaps are moviegoing veterans who tend to spend big on blockbuster movies such as Jurassic World and Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron.

But as many experts have warned, it's going to take more than blockbuster junkies to get Star Wars: The Force Awakens to the top of the pile. A number of commentators have suggested that all this hype could even work against Disney, with some fans being put off from opening weekend screenings by thinking that they won't be able to get a ticket. Don't be surprised if you start seeing a major push from your local theater in the coming weeks.

Prepare yourselves though, because if there's one thing we know for sure, it's the fact that this holiday season is going to be all about one thing.

STAR WARS, BABY!
