Pom Klementieff to Play Marvel Superhero in Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Pom Klementieff was just cast in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in a mystery role, and it turns out that she's playing a familiar face from the comics. The Oldboy actress will play Marvel superhero Mantis, and will likely join the new-and-improved team of Guardians.

In the comics, Mantis is a young girl who is trained by the Priests of Parma to become a grandmistress of martial arts. She's also an empath, or can psychically sense the emotions of others, and has the ability to project the consciousness from her body and communicate with plants. She is extremely powerful, having beaten big names in the Marvel universe such as Captain America, Thor, and even held her own against Thanos.

She began with the Avengers, but ultimately becomes a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which will likely happen onscreen. James Gunn has been vocal about Guardians of the Galaxy 2 adding new members to the team, and has even confirmed that at least one new team member would be a woman. It hasn't been confirmed that she'll be a new member of the team, but it's probably safe to assume.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is slated to come out in theaters on May 5, 2017.
