Rumor Suggests Red Hood Is Teased In The Batman v Superman Trailer And That He's Batman's Next Cinematic Villain
Not long ago, rumors concerning the plot and details of the 2017 Wonder Woman film were released by JoBlo. Now, the rumormongers at the website have leaked another bit of information about the DCEU. Apparently, Red Hood will be the next villain to be featured in a solo Batman movie, and Zack Snyder and co. have already begun to tease his introduction into DC's new cinematic universe.

The site claims to have gained insider info from their sources who state that Red Hood (AKA Jason Todd, the second Robin that came back from the dead) will be the villain in the DCEU's first solo Batman movie. Seemingly, the film will be a loose adaptation of 'Under the Red Hood,' but with a new twist. According to JoBlo, Todd will be committing crimes in Gotham in an attempt to frame Batman, while all the while leaving behind clues to his identity that the Dark Knight must decipher.

For those who might not know, Jason Todd was killed in the 'Death in the Family' storyline of the early 1980s. After the turn of the century, he was brought back to life in the story 'Under the Red Hood,' in which he donned his infamous red hood and began dealing out his very own brand of ultra violent vigilante justice. However, he also sought revenge - not only against his killer, but also against his old mentor, who's no killing code he believed was responsible for his death.

According to JoBlo, the villain has already been teased in the Batman v Superman trailer. Of course, the defaced Robin suit was an obvious reference to what happened to Jason Todd, but the website goes even further and claims that the newspaper clipping with the words 'you let your family die' written across it actually came from the Red Hood, and not the Joker as most individuals had guessed. To their credit, this actually makes a lot of sense.

The website also claims that the Joker will play a major role in the film (which is a no brainer for this storyline, as he was the one who killed Jason Todd) and that Dick Grayson will be brought into the mix as well.

So while this all sounds amazing and basically sums up everything that comics fans could ever hope would be in the next Batman film, how likely are these rumors to be true? There's really no way to tell right now, but JoBlo has been right about things like these before. For instance, they leaked a rumor about what Wonder Woman's costume would be like before any trailer or still image of the superheroine was ever released, and they were able to describe it in almost perfect detail. Even some of the other Wonder Woman tidbits from the same article (for instance, that she'll first be introduced as Diana Prince) seem to be very close to the truth based upon what fans can see from the trailer.

So while it's impossible to know if any part of this new rumor is true, it's certainly not unreasonable, especially considering how well Batman v Superman would set up an 'Under the Red Hood' story with such prominence being placed on the Jason Todd memorial in the Bat Cave. With Affleck possibly directing and with the legendary Geoff Johns being rumored to write the script, this plot would be a surefire way to make a real go at creating the best Batman film to date. As there's no official details concerning the film and there hasn't even been an official release date set for it (an older press release states that there were plans for sometime between 2016 and 2020), it's still a bit early to get too excited about this movie just yet. However, if the rumors are true, the next solo Batman film is definitely going to be HUGE.
