Boardwalk Empire's Michael Stuhlbarg in Talks to Join 'Doctor Strange' as Nicodemus West
If you thought the villainy of Marvel's Doctor Strange movie started and finished with Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, you'd be wrong because it's looking likely that Benedict Cumberbatch's titular hero is going to be facing multiple foes come November 4th next year. According to THR Michael Stuhlbarg is in advanced talks to appear in Doctor Strange while Variety believe he's been offered the role of famous Doctor Stange character, Nicodemus West.

Best known as the character who operated on Strange's injured hands after his car accident, West is a talented surgeon who rivalled Strange in excelling in medicine. West's most famous appearance came during Vaughan and Martin's Doctor Strange: The Oath, which saw Nicodemus West battle Strange in attempt to prevent a miracle cure elixir from reaching the public.

If Stuhlbarg is indeed playing West, this is the latest indication yet that Marvel's Doctor Strange movie will borrow heavily from The Oath story arc. Rachel McAdam is widely thought to be playing the Marvel character Night Nurse who, like West, features heavily in The Oath story along with Baron Mordo and the Ancient One. Certainly, if Scott Derrickson's movie does borrow heavily from The Oath, you won't hear many Marvel fans complaining.

Doctor Strange is scheduled for release on November 4th 2016
