Joel Hodgson Launches Kickstarter to Bring Mystery Science Theater 3000 Back to TV!
Good news for fans of snarky remarks and witty watch-a-longs, because a reboot of the cult classic Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) is making a comeback! Joel Hodgson announced today that he's launched a Kickstarter to help bring the show back to TV after a 15 year absence.

Hodgson, the man who created and presented the show when it first aired back in 1988, is looking to raise a whopping $2,000,000 in order to bring the show back. While that may seem like a huge amount of money, MST3K has a massive fan base and as folks like Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk have show, people will gladly part with their money for their favorite TV stars. Donations have already started pouring in to the campaign, and with just 15 minutes of it being open it had almost reached the $20k mark. A long way to go, yes, but it certainly doesn't seem like an unobtainable goal.

As Hodgson points out in his Kickstarter pitch, there is ample material for the MST3K team to riff on. Bad movies haven't ceased to exist, nor has our desire to make jokes about them subsided. If The X-Files, Twin Peaks, and The Greatest American Hero can return to our screens, why not MST3K?
