Fan Poll: What Do You Think About the Batman v Superman Trailer?
A new trailer for Batman v Superman debuted last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and we have lots of opinions. Some of it we unexpectedly loved (Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor), some of it we hated (Doomsday, what else?), but above all, we just thought they gave too much away. But enough about us, what did you think?

Let's talk about the good parts first. The tense, charged scene between Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne was exciting and well-written, and made me much more excited for Ben Affleck's take on Batman. The dialogue in general was better than I expected, especially the lines delivered by Jesse Eisenberg, who is clearly having so much fun with the role. (Now we know why he's always out there singing the script's praises, because he gets all of the best lines.) His slightly manic, eccentric version of Lex may not be popular with everyone, but I'm sold on it.

And of course, it was exciting to see the Trinity band together for the first time, and especially great to see Wonder Woman front and center. Although first of all, isn't the point of armor to protect one's skin? So why wouldn't she have her legs and arms covered like Batman does? It would be much more logical and practical (not to mention feminist) for her costume to adhere to her new getup in DC Comics, pants and all. Also, it would be nice if they let her speak at some point.

And now for the bad, which is pretty much just Doomsday, but considering that he's the main villain, that's a pretty big problem. First of all, he just looks stupid. He's supposed to be scary, but he looks like a grumpy teenage mutant ninja turtle:

Or a cave troll:

But honestly, it would probably be impossible to make a villain like Doomsday look like he belongs in a "gritty" DC movie. I don't know why all of these supposedly "grounded" superhero movies are using villains that look like Fantastic Four's Thing (like Suicide Squad's Killer Croc, for example). Nolan pulled off dark and gritty because he used a villain like the Joker, who's just a deranged human being with makeup. Since this trailer gave the entire plot of the movie away, I can already predict that I'm going to wish they had just excised the entire third-act showdown with Doomsday from the movie and focused on the conflict between Batman and Superman, which looks to be much more interesting (not to mention is the title of the movie, no big deal).
