Cover for Chuck Wendig's Star Wars: Aftermath - Life Debt Teases a Han Solo/Chewbacca Storyline
When it was released in September, Chuck Wendig's Star Wars: Aftermath was touted as giving us our first canon glimpse into the state of the Star Wars galaxy post Return of the Jedi. It did so by introducing a series of new characters who were forced to tackle the remnants of a defiant Imperial military on the planet Akiva. But Wendig also used a series of cutaways featuring new and existing characters to help detail what post-Endor life was looking like across the Galaxy.

This opportunity to dive into new Star Wars territory helped Aftermath sell a ton of copies, and Wendig has since been given the opportunity to turn Aftermath into a trilogy of stories between now and 2017. The next installment, 'Star Wars: Aftermath - Life Debt', is set for release in Summer of 2016, and if its title didn't give you hope that it would feature Han Solo and Chewbacca, the newly released cover art certainly will.

While we still don't have any plot details for Wendig's second Star Wars novel, the combination of the Millennium Falcon and the words 'Life Debt' has us convinced we'll be diving deeper into the legendary partnership between Han and his Wookiee pal, Chewbacca.

During the first Aftermath novel, a cutaway scene showed Han and Chewie on a mission to flush out the last pockets of Imperial funding. That mission was brought to an early close when Chewie learnt of troubles on his homeworld of Kashyyyk. The cutaway ended with Han opting to take Chewie and the Falcon to Kashyyyk to help out the Wookiee natives. That's the last we heard of the pair, which means there's ample opportunity for Wendig to explore their exploits on one of the Star Wars galaxy's more interesting planets.

Of course, we won't know exactly what the plot will be until some time next year, but until then, this is where our money is sitting.

Aftermath - Life Debt hits shelves early Summer 2016, while the final book in the trilogy, Aftermath - Empire's End is released in 2017.
