We Might Be Getting New Hunger Games Movies For All Eternity
As we all know, Suzanne Collins wrote three Hunger Games books, which were then turned into four movies by Lionsgate. The films went on to become one of the most financially successful franchises of all time, and it came to a close with last month's Mockingjay: Part Two. But it turns out there may be more Hunger Games movies in the works. An endless amount, it seems.

According to Variety, Lionsgate has no intention of sending their biggest cash cow to the slaughterhouse. The company wants to begin churning out Hunger Games prequels, for which their are no corresponding books, basically until people stop going to see them. Or as Lionsgate Vice Chairman Michael Burns said, the franchise "will live on, and on." This is following the trend of other recent blockbuster franchises who are looking to beat their properties into the ground. It took nearly 40 years for there to be six Star Wars movies, now Disney is going to make one every year until the end of time. The Harry Potter franchise is returning with a trilogy based on a textbook. And there are (gulp) a dozen Transformers movies in our dystopian future, making us wish we were under the thumb of the Capitol.

Who knows, maybe these Hunger Games prequels will be good. James Bond still manages to churn out winners after a couple dozen films, so anything's possible. Of course, if Collins wanted to write another book or two first then that would definitely make us feel a lot better about the idea.
