See Lex Luthor Become The New Darkseid in a New Justice League One-Shot Comic
Geoff Johns has been doing masterful work with his Justice League series ever since the beginning of the New 52 in 2011. His current story, Darkseid War, has definitely shaken up the DC Universe quite a bit, with many of the characters gaining temporary special powers or having their skill sets changed in various ways. What's interesting, however, is that some of these characters are being given the precise abilities they've always dreamed of.

Not long ago, a one-shot comic came out detailing what life was like for Batman after gaining access to the Mobius chair.  He was finally able to prevent crimes before they ever took place and was given compete authority over all the information a strategist like himself could ever want - t's everything he's ever dreamed of.  Likewise, super genius Lex Luthor has always wished to have total control and the personal power to defeat Superman. Now it looks like he may finally have it.

In Justice League #45, it was revealed that Luthor had become the new ruler of Apokolips after Darkseid's death. The Omega Effect hit him full force, granting him the same powers that the nigh-omnipotent Darkseid possessed before his demise.  This week's new one-shot focusing on Lex shows just how Luthor handles this new found power of his.

Luthor's always been a tyrant, using his money to exert his power and control over others, so the fact that he's been given some of the most powerful abilities in the universe is no joke.  He's just as prideful and demanding as ever, and to top it off, he's been given his own personal army of parademons.

It'll be interesting to see how the rest of Darkseid War plays out. Lex has been fighting alongside the League for a while now (long story), so this could be the beginning of his falling out. However, he's already shown that he knows the identity of Batman, so if the League does turn on him, this could have some pretty dire consequences.

Of course, these new abilities will almost certainly be a temporary situation. Geoff Johns has shown way too much respect for these characters in the past to all of the sudden go off and make huge, lasting changes of these sorts to them.  Most likely, all will be resolved when Darkseid War comes to a close.

To see what happens next, pick up Justice League #46, which hits shelves this Wednesday.  Geoff Johns is one of the biggest names in the comic industry for good reason, so you won't be disappointed.
