Listen to the Beautiful, Rousing John Williams Score that Opens Star Wars: The Force Awakens
For those of you who have gone into spoiler blackout until Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out on Friday, I commend you. But now we have a hugely tantalizing teaser that doesn't spoil any plot points: the first few minutes of John Williams's perfectly rousing score.

John Williams is arguably the biggest creative thread through the entire Star Wars franchise, and his scores are easily one of the most iconic parts of the films. But, like everything else in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the new score has been kept effectively under wraps (J.J. Abrams goes on record as saying in the video, "There are people whose full-time jobs are preventing things from leaking to the Internet"). We've heard a few seconds of the score here and there, but this is the first substantial piece of music we've heard from the new film, and it's beautiful. We didn't think it was possible to be more excited for this movie, but we were wrong.

The music comes near the beginning, but the entire video is worth watching, if only to see Abrams adorably geek out over working with Williams and to hear Williams call Abrams "baby." But apparently, he calls everyone that on set, because he's a "jazz man."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out on Friday, December 18.
