Just Kidding, Daniel Craig Actually Does Cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Remember those widely discredited rumors that Daniel Craig was going to be in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Apparently, those weren't so much rumors after all. EW has confirmed from multiple sources that Craig, who is a huge Star Wars fan, made a small but extremely memorable cameo in Episode VII.

Possible spoilers ahead! (Click to reveal)

Apparently, Craig played a Stormtrooper, which is no surprise, since he was incognito. But he played possibly the most significant Stormtrooper in the film aside from Finn, the guard on whom Rey tries to use The Force to get him to let her go while she's being held captive by Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke. She says twice, "You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open," clearly a reference to the "these aren't the droids you're looking for" scene from A New Hope:

Craig vehemently denied these rumors when they came out, probably because production was so secretive in general. But it's so difficult to tell it's him, he might have wanted to keep it a secret because he did it purely as a Star Wars fanatic, not as a famous actor making an Easter egg appearance. According to a source, "He did it for sh–s and grins."

Daniel Craig wasn't the only prominent actor to wrangle a Star Wars bit part. In addition to Simon Pegg's well-publicized cameo, Thomas Brodie-Sangster made a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance. I thought I might be imagining it at first, but IMDb confirms it. I knew I wasn't just hallucinating because it's December and we all have Love Actually on the brain.
