Get Ready for the X-Files Revival with a 21-Minute Sneak Peek
The X-Files are re-opening! The revival is getting closer and closer, so the cast and producers are back for an extensive featurette about the return of our favorite alien conspiracy show:

The featurette is intended to both appeal to the nostalgia of old fans and introduce potential new fans to the franchise. Chris Carter re-iterates that there will be both mythology episodes and monster-of-the-week episodes: episodes one and six will be connected to a serialized plot, while the middle four episodes will all be standalone cases.

Opening quote
"We want to satisfy the mythology of it," Duchovny says in the video, "and then there's going to be stand-alones and of those stand-alones there's going to be one that's funnier than the others."
Closing quote

If we had to guess, we would say that Duchovny is referring to "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster." Not only does it have the silliest title, it was written by Darin Morgan, who wrote some of the funniest and most acclaimed episodes of the original series, including "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose."

The featurette also explores the current state of Mulder and Scully's relationship, which was platonic for the first seven seasons, followed by an onscreen kiss and heavy implications that they had a child together. Gillian Anderson says that time has been hard on them, but the place we find them in is true to their overall relationship, as there is "huge intimacy and appreciation, but also frustration, and love and care, and potential..."

The X-Files miniseries premieres on January 24 on Fox.
