Robbie Amell to Return to The Flash as a DC Comics Villain
It seemed that Robbie Amell's version of Firestorm had truly departed from The Flash, as his character died in the season 2 premiere and then a new Firestorm was brought in to fuse with Martin Stein and is part of the main cast on Legends of Tomorrow. But now, a new image reveals that Robbie Amell is, indeed, returning to The Flash, but not as the superhero who sacrificed himself to save Central City. Instead, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg confirmed that he will be playing DC Comics villain Deathstorm:

Opening quote
"We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash," Kreisberg told EW. "You can't keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he's back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm."
Closing quote

In the comics, Deathstorm is the personification of death, accidentally created by Ronnie Raymond and another Firestorm, Jason Rusch. It seems the origins of Deathstorm have changed in The Flash, and that he will be in a relationship with Caitlin Snow's Earth-Two counterpart, Killer Frost. This makes sense, as the latest trailer conformed that we'll be seeing Killer Frost in the latter half of the season:

Does this mean we'll see Ronnie Raymond, or some version of him, on Legends of Tomorrow? It makes more sense that he would reprise his character without being a part of the regular cast if he were a villain. And according to Victor Garber, Amell will definitely be appearing on the Flash/Arrow spin-off:
