Michael Bay Confirmed to Direct Transformers 5
This is great news, I guess, if you're a Transformers fan (and if you are, I have just so many questions). Michael Bay just confirmed that he is returning to direct a fifth installment of the unkillable series, but even he can't keep track of which one we're on now.

Opening quote
"I'm doing Transformers ... 5, is it?" Bay told Rolling Stone while promoting his new film, 13 Hours. "I've taken on a lot of work."
Closing quote

Bay has directed every single Transformers so far (and yes, there have been four of them). The fourth installment, Age of Extinction, came out last year, and was the highest-grossing film of 2014, as well as the fifteenth highest-grossing film of all time. It also received the dubious honor of a whopping seven nominations at the Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture, Worst Sequel, Worst Supporting Actor, and Worst Supporting Actress, with Bay winning for Worst Director. It also topped our own list of worst sci-fi movies of 2014.

But, it made lots of money, so Bay is directing yet another one. Transformers 5 is set to be released in 2017, with Mark Wahlberg and Peter Cullen, who voiced Optimus Prime, set to return. Transformers 5 is part of a burgeoning cinematic universe currently being built from a large writers' room led by Akiva Goldman. According to recent reports, the franchise could expand to 12 movies, because God hates us.
