These Are the Top Ten Bestselling Comics of 2015
2015 was a huge year for comics, between the rebooting of both the Star Wars expanded universe and the Marvel Comics universe (both Marvel properties, of course), and Frank Miller's return to the Dark Knight for The Master Race. The latter probably got more hype than any other single comic this year, but as we just learned from Avatar's defeat, there's no competing with the power of the Force:

Even though this is definitely the Year of Star Wars, I'm still a little surprised, as The Master Race had more fuss surrounding it than any other comic this year. But not only do Star Wars (which took over four of the ten spots) and Marvel have huge momentum right now, all of the comics that beat The Master Race came out much earlier in the year. Star Wars came out in January, Secret Wars came out in May, Holo John in March, and Orphan Black in February. The Master Race hasn't had too much time to catch up, as it didn't come out until November.

As much as I love Batman, the female-led Orphan Black is a particularly pleasant surprise, as is Spider-Gwen. Maybe now people will accept that women read comics, and that comics fans want to read titles with well-rounded, non-objectified female leads.

Batman fared a little bit better on the list of bestselling graphic novels of 2015, as a special edition of The Killing Joke soundly broke the top ten even though it originally came out decades ago:
