Batman v Superman: Jesse Eisenberg Teases Lex Luthor Losing His Hair
There are several controversies surrounding Batman v Superman so far, not the least of which is the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. In addition to complaints that he's too young or not right for the role (let's just wait and see guys, all right?), he has a full and luxurious head of hair. We assumed that he would lose his hair over the course of the movie because of the above promo picture, but it was never confirmed, and could technically be a preview of the character in future DCEU films. In a new interview with LA Times, Eisenberg confirms that Lex will lose his hair in Batman v Superman, and gets us really excited for it:
Opening quote
"When you see the movie, you'll see. It's the greatest scene that I've ever gotten to take part in - it accounts for the change in hair."
Closing quote

Eisenberg has been in some amazing films (for all of you who haven't seen The End of the Tour yet, you should), so this is very high praise. But the craziest part of the interview came when Zack Snyder admitted that he approached Eisenberg for another role when the film was in early stages of production, but won't reveal who it was:

Opening quote
"Let's call it a secret, but nevertheless it was the exact opposite of Lex Luthor," said Snyder.

The "exact opposite of Lex Luthor" makes it sound like he was offered the role of a superhero, probably The Flash, but then Snyder goes on to say that when Eisenberg declined the role, Snyder came back with something "cooler." Since Eisenberg doesn't have the right look for Aquaman, this means it probably wasn't one of the Justice League. My guess would be Jimmy Olsen, who hasn't technically been confirmed for the film yet, hence the secrecy. Many speculate that the role will be played by Scoot McNairy, who was cast in a mystery role last year whose name was never revealed.

But once Eisenberg was offered the role of Lex, he jumped at the opportunity to method act a "super-scary character":

Opening quote
"I feel like once [Eisenberg] found out who Lex was he embraced it," said Snyder. "Once you kind of start digging into Lex, it's a bit of a scary thing to be that guy. I don't think he just goes 'Oh, I'll just be that guy and then when I go home I'm not him.' I think the thing with Jessie is he wasn't immune to the reality of playing a super-scary character."
