Here Are Eight Actors on the Shortlist to Play Han Solo
After auditioning literally thousands of actors for the part of young Han Solo, Disney and Lucasfilm have whittled their list down to a dozen actors, and eight of their names have been made public. Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen, and Blake Jenner will all be vying for one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood.

There are about four names still unknown, but of these eight actors, Emory Cohen and Miles Teller get our votes. Cohen was absolutely amazing in Brooklyn, and in the vastly underrated Place Beyond the Pines. Teller is also an enormously talented actor, although he might be a little too tied to other franchises to step into such an iconic role. (That being said, he has the brash public persona down pat.) Ansel Elgort, Logan Lerman, and Dave Franco are also established and talented, but none of them have quite the right look.

Although it may seem that this casting is coming super early for the Han Solo prequel, which is slated to be released in 2018, but there's a chance we could be seeing him a lot sooner than that. According to the original report in Variety, industry sources say that he may make a cameo in Rogue One, a la Tom Holland in Civil War. Rogue One takes place in between the prequel and original trilogies, which would be the perfect timeline to introduce a Han Solo who is slightly younger than he was in A New Hope. Disney has been auditioning actors from the ages of 17-34, but has zeroed in on the age range of 20-25, in which all of the above actors fall with the exception of Scott Eastwood, who is 29.

The untitled Han Solo prequel film is set to be released on May 25, 2018.
