Benicio Del Toro Reportedly Out of Guardians of the Galaxy 2
One of the best parts about Guardians of the Galaxy, and there were a lot of great things, was definitely Benicio Del Toro's mysterious Collector. It was never clear whose side The Collector was on, or what his motivations were, but what is certain is that he brought a level of weirdness to an already weird film that helped truly set it apart from the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Because of this, it was widely assumed that Del Toro would return to the role in the film's sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2. But sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case. While promoting his new film A Perfect Day, the actor was asked by Superhero Hype if he was involved in the James Gunn's Marvel sequel

Opening quote
"I don't think so. They would have told me, I hope… I do hope to play that character again at some point."
Closing quote

This is surprising, given that not only was he a popular character, but he also featured in GotG's memorable end-credits scene. A future appearance does seem all but guaranteed for the character though, since as far as we know, he is still in possession of one of the Infinity Stones, which he gained in the end credits scene of Thor: The Dark World. Thanos is going to have to get that stone, presumably before Avengers: Infinity War, so that means the weirdo Collector will likely be present to hand it over at some point prior to that film - but probably not willingly, since he was trying to collect the whole set as well.
