Gal Godot Brandishes Her Shield in New Wonder Woman Set Photos
We'll first see Wonder Woman wield her sword and shield in the modern day in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but new set photos from the solo movie show her brandishing her famous weapons in a very period setting:
Wonder Woman Set Photos (2016)

Wonder Woman takes place during World War I, which is a relatively unusual setting for films. Co-star Chris Pine (who can be seen in the set photos above), recently stated:

Opening quote
"It's a period we don't see often; it's usually World War II. Our costume design is incredible. We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I'd never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here."
Closing quote

From the looks of the new set photos, the costumes are, indeed, impressive, and it looks suitably jarring to see Wonder Woman with a sword and shield while in such distinguished garb.

We still don't know too much about the plot of Wonder Woman, but news has been trickling out for the last few months. We know that Patty Jenkins, best known for the Oscar winning (and female-led) film Monster, is directing, and Pine is playing the love interest, Steve Trevor, who is somewhat like a gender-swapped damsel-in-distress. Robin Wright and Danny Huston also have roles in the film, and Connie Nielsen was just cast as Wonder Woman's mother.
