Ryan Reynolds Talks Cable For Deadpool Sequel
Deadpool hasn't even opened in theaters yet (though it has had a very well-received premiere), and yet confidence is high that the film will be a hit. So high, in fact, that a sequel is already being discussed - and Deadpool's BFF/archenemy from the comics, Cable, is in the conversation.

At the film's surprise premiere in New York on January 18, Ryan Reynolds talked about making more Deadpool films, and someone in the crowd apparently yelled out, "Cable and Deadpool!" Reynolds then addressed the fan directly, according to comicbook.com, saying, "Your lips to God's ears, my friend. Believe me, that's being talked about." He then apparently suggestively nodded and raised his eyebrows, as if to let the fan know that he was on to something.

Obviously, there is fan support to see Cyclops's time-traveling mercenary son from the future show up in a Deadpool sequel, and it could end up being a smart way to further tie Deadpool to Fox's larger X-Men universe. If Fox wants an MCU-type of setup for the X-Men, and of course they do because everyone does right now, then they need to look at ways to more intimately tie these movies together. If they want to seriously compete with Marvel, and even DC, they're not going to be able to skate by anymore with the blatant disregard for continuity they've shown with the X-Men up to this point. They need to be consistent, and maybe a Deadpool and Cable tie-in could be the start of that.
