Marvel Brings Back Steve Rogers for New Captain America Comic Series
2016 is a big year for Captain America. It's the 75th anniversary of the character, Marvel Comics is releasing a long-awaited sequel to Civil War, and, of course, the MCU is releasing Captain America: Civil War in May. So naturally, Marvel has decided to return Steve Rogers to his role as Captain America, in a new series coming out in spring.

Captain America Steve Rogers

We would be disappointed if this meant that Sam Wilson would no longer be Captain America, as his series has been tackling important issues in an entertaining way. But luckily, we're just going to have two Captain Americas now, as Captain America: Steve Rogers is going to run parallel to Captain America: Sam Wilson.

Opening quote
"Captain America: Steve Rogers and Captain America: Sam Wilson will act as great counter-points to one another," series writer Nick Spencer said in a press release. "If you're digging the topical, ripped-from-the-headlines approach we're taking in Sam's book, we've got plenty more of that to come. And if you're up for a more timeless take, with Captain America facing off against Hydra and his classic rogues gallery, Steve's book will be just the thing for you."
Closing quote

It's a little annoying that the words "timeless" and "classic" can apparently only be used in reference to a white male superhero, especially since Sam Wilson fought against villains such as Doctor Malus, who first appeared in Marvel Comics over three decades ago. It would be upsetting if they were pandering to all of the people who were upset about a black Captain America by having their cake and eating it too. But on the other hand, we like the character, so as long as Sam Wilson is sticking around as well, we're happy campers. More comics could never be a bad thing.
