Lauren Cohan Was Secretly Cast as a Key Comics Character in Batman v Superman
We thought we had heard all of the major casting news about Batman v Superman we were going to hear until the movie comes out, but it still has a few surprises up its sleeve. It was revealed today that Lauren Cohan, best known for her roles on geek shows like The Walking Dead, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, and Chuck, was secretly cast as a very familiar DC Comics character, who will be key to Batman's origin story.

Cohan will be playing Bruce Wayne's mother, Martha Wayne, who, of course, dies in a flashback sequence when Bruce is still a child. Similar to Uncle Ben, we really, really don't need to see Batman's parents die again. (Is there anyone in the world who doesn't know Batman's origin by now?) But if we absolutely have to see it again, it might as well be with Lauren Cohan, although I wish she were cast in a role that had the possibility for further appearances. Funnily enough, she was cast opposite Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Thomas Wayne and will be joining the Walking Dead cast as Negan later this season.

Cohan joins an all-star cast of Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Godot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Holly Hunter as US Senator Finch, and Scoot McNairy and Jena Malone in undisclosed roles. The film will come out in theaters on March 25.
