Blade Runner 2 Will Start Filming in July
Plot details have been kept tightly under wraps for the highly anticipated follow-up to the sci-fi classic Blade Runner, but at least now we know when it will begin production: July 2016. We already knew that filming would begin this summer, but now we have a more specific timeline, as well as the news that Sony will distribute the film internationally.

Plot-wise, we don't know much, except that Ryan Gosling will be the new protagonist of the film, Harrison Ford will return as Rick Deckard, and the film will finally answer once and for all whether Deckard is a replicant. Of course, Ridley Scott pretty much already spilled the beans on the answer to that question, but if his answer is correct, then the film will have a lot of explaining to do.

Blade Runner 2 will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, best known for the acclaimed thriller Prisoners, starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. Ridley Scott will return to executive produce along with original writer Hampton Fancher, while Oscar-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins is confirmed to shoot the film. The film is expected to come out sometime in 2018.
