Everyone's Favorite Sullustan is Returning for Star Wars: Episode VIII
I have a confession to make. My favorite Star Wars character isn't Han Solo, nor is it Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker, or even Boba Fett for that matter. My favorite Star Wars character is one that had an extremely limited role in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, influenced very little of the movie's plot and had barely any comprehensible dialogue. But limited as this character's role might have been, it was enough for childhood me to become completely enchanted with the Sullustan co-pilot known as Nien Nunb.

Clearly, a few folks out there shared my adoration for Nien-Nunb, because the one-time Sullustan smuggler was seen a number of times during Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Nien-Nunb also made a number of appearances throughout the old Star Wars Legends stories, so it was a relief to see his early days as a freedom fighter battling the Empire on his home planet of Sullust during Alexander Freed's recent novel, Star Wars Battlefront: Twilight Company.

In both Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens, Nien Nunb was played by character actor Mike Quinn. Thankfully for all of those Nunb fans out there, it looks like Quinn's involvement with the Star Wars franchise is going to continue, because it was revealed that just yesterday, Quinn has had to cancel a planned appearance at 'Pensacon' in Florida because he has been called to set in order to shoot "a certain movie"

So, more bad news this morning - Mike Quinn has to cancel his appearance as well. A certain movie is calling...

Quinn isn't the only one who has had to cancel an appearance at Pensacon because of shooting on Star Wars: Episode VIII. Earlier this week, the Florida-based event revealed that both Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Mike Rose (Admiral Ackbar) will be on hand to shoot scenes for Rian Johnson's follow up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Nunb's return for more action in the new Star Wars trilogy might not be life-altering news, but for fans of the character, it's very welcome news indeed. Until then, sit back and watch one of Nunb's brief (but nonetheless excellent) cameos from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
