Batman v Superman's (Very Long) Runtime Revealed
Batman v Superman is a mammoth of a movie in more ways than one, as the big superhero showdown has just been revealed to be very, very long. The official runtime, per AMC Theaters, is 2 hours and 31 minutes.

This doesn't come as a huge surprise, considering that the trailers and early plot leaks indicate that there will be approximately four action climaxes (two fights between Batman and Superman, the showdown with Doomsday, and one final conflict with Lex Luthor that introduces other members of the Justice League). This is a long movie, but certainly not the longest superhero movie of all time. It's three minutes shorter than Superman returns, 11 minutes shorter than Watchmen, and 13 minutes shorter than Dark Knight Rises.

Whether it feels as long as it is will likely depend on the execution. Avengers: Age of Ultron was ten minutes shorter at 141 minutes, but felt extremely long since it was so overstuffed and meandering, while The Dark Knight was one minute longer at 152 minutes, but flies by since it's so well-executed. I'm hoping for the latter, but a little afraid of the former, especially since the fights between Batman v Superman fights look much more interesting than any of the big set pieces that will make up the final act.

Batman v Superman comes out in theaters on March 25.
