Will Kingpin Show Up in Daredevil Season 2?
Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk was a breakout character of Daredevil season one, and hands-down the best villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (with the possible exception of Jessica Jones' Kilgrave). He was (spoiler!) put in jail at the end of season one, which would indicate that he's out of commission for the time being. But he's not dead yet, which leaves the door wide open for Kingpin to make an appearance in season two. Most of the speculation that Kingpin will return is just that—speculation, based on wishful thinking, but D'Onofrio has been fanning the flames a little bit recently on his Twitter account:

This tweet is (deliberately) vague, but it seems to connect Fisk with the second season of Daredevil. Maybe it's just a reference to Fisk and Matt Murdock's philosophical clash last season, but it's also possible that Fisk will escape from prison somehow, which would go a long way towards validating Punisher's assertions that doing the "right" thing—aka not killing villains—can be the wrong thing.

Fan speculation also started going wild when D'Onofrio sung Jon Bernthal's praises for his performance as Frank Castle:

It certainly sounds like D'Onofrio is more privy to Bernthal's performance as Punisher than we are, although to be fair, he could just generally be a fan of Bernthal's acting (maybe he's a Walking Dead enthusiast, or caught his performance in Fury). But still, the possibility that Fisk will return is definitely worth considering. He and Vanessa were an integral part of season one, and although the focus will clearly be on Punisher and Elektra, I wouldn't be surprised if he made an appearance later in the season, and since his character was very deliberately left alive, I would be very surprised if he never came back.

Whether Fisk returns will likely depend on which direction the writers take this season. Jon Bernthal revealed which comics he was reading in preparation for his role, and they included Punisher Max and Circle of Blood, both of which involve Kingpin in some way. The former actually includes Fisk in the action of the story, and sees Punisher go up against Kingpin, Bullseye, and Elektra (who will be played by Elodie Yung in season two). However, the plot centers around Fisk first becoming Kingpin, so that seems unlikely. Circle of Blood, on the other hand, sees Kingpin looming over the proceedings without ever making an appearance, while Punisher deals with an entire organization of wannabe-Punishers (which doesn't seem to be part of the plot in Daredevil).

Considering that the showrunner has been calling this season "Daredevil vs. Punisher," the plot will likely be loosely based on Daredevil vs Punisher: Means and Ends, which takes place after Fisk has gone to jail. Fisk could still have significant influence from a prison cell, and since the early reviews have implied that the first seven episodes don't necessarily have a clear central antagonist, I wouldn't be surprised if Fisk turned out to be orchestrating everything from behind the scenes.

Daredevil season two starts streaming on Netflix on March 18.
