This Fan-Made Trailer Might Make You Think Differently About the Ghostbusters Reboot
Yesterday, the first full trailer for Sony's upcoming Ghostbusters reboot was released, and reactions have run the gamut delight to outrage, with the latter being the more commonplace. Such a range of responses, as well as such a high level of indignation is not a new thing when it comes to franchise reboots and revivals, but the reactions to Paul Feig's new movie do seem particularly vitriolic.

"Garbage", "Horrible", and "Terrible" are the words used by some of our readers, but is there a chance that the trailer simply didn't do Feig's work justice? With the likes of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Chris Hemsworth involved, the movie is loaded with talent. Heck, it's even been given the blessing of original Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd.

Keeping the misogynists out of the equation, the general complaints seem to focus on a lack of connection to the original franchise. The already-cliched, slow piano rendition of the original theme song didn't sit well with folks, nor did the frankly ridiculous number of one-liners. So, what would happen if that was all fixed? A Ghostbusters fan has created a new cut of the trailer, turning it into more of a teaser and adding that beautiful 80's flourish that we all know and love from the originals. The effect is pretty incredible.

While many fans certainly seem to have made their mind up about this movie, this fan cut is evidence of just how important a movie's trailers can be. Was yesterday's trailer a winner? No. But that certainly doesn't mean we'll be writing this one off, especially given that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver are expected to make an appearance.
