Gal Gadot Discusses the Importance of Wonder Woman
It may be hard to believe, but in the almost 75 years she has existed as a beloved character and national icon, Wonder Woman has never appeared in a feature film. That of course is going to change this month with her role in Batman v Superman, and then next year she'll get her own movie with Wonder Woman. With such an important character making such a big debut, obviously there's a lot of pressure from fans to get the portrayal right. Thankfully, actresses Gal Gadot seems up to the task, as she reveals in a new interview with Glamour magazine.

Opening quote
"It was important for me that we show how independent she is. She is not relying on a man, and she's not there because of a love story. She's not there to serve someone else. She has so many strengths and powers, but at the end of the day she's a woman with a lot of emotional intelligence... I think women are amazing for being able to show what they feel. I admire women who do. I think it's a mistake when women cover their emotions to look tough. I say let's own who we are and use it as a strength."

It definitely sounds to us like Gadot is going to nail this part. She understands how important it is that Wonder Woman is a strong, independent, and proud woman, and a character who doesn't depend on anyone else's idea of what a female superhero should look like. So don't worry, Wonder Woman fans, it looks like your hero's big screen debut is going to be everything you could have possibly hoped for.
