Could Peggy Carter End Up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
After a big cliffhanger at the end of the finale, Agent Carter is very much on the bubble for a possible season three. But if it's canceled, is there a possibility we could see Peggy join another Marvel show? While discussing last night's AOS midseason premiere, showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen intimated that if Agent Carter is canceled, Hayley Atwell might be able to jump ship to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

When asked whether there was "room for Agent Carter in the S.H.I.E.L.D. universe" if Agent Carter isn't renewed, Tancharoen told THR"There's always that possibility."

Opening quote
"We are in an old SSR base, and Agent Carter founded S.H.I.E.L.D. There's definitely a direct line between the two," said Whedon. "We're still very hopeful that it will return because we love it. We are linked to them through history so whether or not we'll tell their stories remains to be seen."
Closing quote

Does this mean there's a possibility Hayley Atwell could be a regular next season? Probably not, considering that Agent Carter takes place in the 40's, while Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. takes place in the present day. But that's not necessarily prohibitive; this is sci-fi after all, and Peggy could potentially travel to the present day for a little while (but, then, why wouldn't she have contacted Captain America?). It seems most likely that she would appear occasionally in flashbacks, but we can still dream.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 8pm on ABC.
