Daredevil season two is coming out next week, but once we come down from our binge-watching high, we're going to need some Luke Cage news for a Defenders fix. Now, Mike Colter has revealed Luke Cage's premiere date, and it's a little earlier than we thought it would be: September 30th!

We knew that Marvel was planning two Defenders series each year (just like Daredevil and Jessica Jones in 2015), and that Luke Cage would debut in the fall, but this is the first confirmation of an official premiere date. Colter was tight-lipped on any plot details, but he did tell us one thing:

Opening quote
"It's going to be action-packed from beginning to the very end."
Closing quote

Luke Cage takes place after the events of Jessica Jones, with the "unbreakable man" fighting crime in Harlem. It will feature Colter in the lead role, Mahershala Ali as the Marvel villain Cottonmouth, Oscar nominee Alfre Woodard as a local politician and Cottonmouth's cousin, Simone Missick as superhero Misty Knight, and Theo Rossi as Marvel villain Shades. The show will also see Carrie-Anne Moss and Rosario Dawson reprising their MCU roles as Jeri Hogarth and Claire Temple, respectively, the latter possibly as a love interest for Luke. There are also rumors that Luke Cage will guest star Finn Jones in his first appearance as Iron Fist, who teams up with Luke Cage in the comics to form the Heroes for Hire.

Daredevil season two starts streaming on Netflix on March 18, while Luke Cage debuts on September 30, followed by an Iron Fist series, a second season for Jessica Jones, and a Defenders miniseries, release dates TBA.
