Civil War Writer Thinks Batman v Superman Beats Captain America: Civil War in Trailers
Captain America: Civil War just blew everyone away with its final trailer, mostly for the first glimpse of your friendly neighborhood MCU Spider-Man. But now that the trailers for both of the biggest superhero showdowns of the year are out (aside from a bunch of international trailers and TV spots for Civil War, naturally), Civil War comics writer Mark Millar is weighing in, and he's defecting to the Dark Side.

Civil War

It's interesting that he speaks in general terms about the trailers for the two movies, since the first two Batman v Superman trailers were kind of disappointing (particularly the second), while only the third was smart enough to highlight Batman's amazing fighting style. So we're not sure we agree, but this fan's take on it is pretty accurate and funny:

Civil War

Fans weren't talking too much about this scene, since everyone was so caught up in the Spider-Man reveal, but we have to admit, it looks pretty silly. There's obviously an appeal to having two teams of superheroes run at each other, but seriously, why would they ever just line up like that? Has guerilla warfare gone out of style? It seems extremely over-the-top and contrived, even for a comic book movie.

But again, the first two BVS trailers weren't nearly as great, which gives Marvel fans more ammunition to call DC a one-trick pony:

It's definitely not true that DC hasn't done anything great in the last few decades, but it is true that they haven't managed to do anything great that didn't involve Batman. Their Superman movies have all been underwhelming let-downs (and we're not even going to talk about that Catwoman movie), and both the marketing campaign for BVS and the increased focus on Suicide Squad and the Batman solo movie demonstrate that DC really depends on Batman in their cinematic efforts.

But that being said, these are just trailers, so it remains to be seen which movie will actually be better. My personal opinion: they will both be a little bloated and disappointing, Civil War will be a little more polished and entertaining, and Suicide Squad will be the best superhero movie of the year (aside from Deadpool, which no one will be able to beat). What do you think?
