Star Trek Beyond Is Undergoing Reshoots, Adds a New Cast Member
Is Star Trek Beyond running into trouble? The film is set to come out this summer, but new reports claim that it's undergoing reshoots and adding a whole new character, to be played by Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo.

The fact that the film is undergoing reshoots wouldn't be too worrisome in itself, but they seem to be extensive if they're adding an entirely new character. It's possible that the role is a cameo, but that seems unlikely, considering that Deadline reports Aghdashloo has joined the cast as the "High Command of the Federation." Although we can't be sure, it certainly seems as though something about the film isn't quite working.

Btu then again, the fact that they're reshooting and trying to fix the film might be a good thing. Considering that the first trailer was somewhat underwhelming, it would actually give us a little more hope for the movie if they realized that something was going wrong and did something to make it more interesting/memorable.

Aghdashloo received an Academy Award nomination for her role in House of Sand and Fog, and was the first Iranian woman to win an Emmy in 2009 for her role in HBO's House of Saddam. She also appeared in significant roles in television series like 24, and most recently, Syfy's The Expanse.
