Robert Downey Jr. Talks 'Iron Man 4'
Robert Downey Jr. is in some ways responsible for the existence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 2008's Iron Man was the first film produced by Marvel Studios, and if his incarnation of the character hadn't proved to be so wildly popular it's highly unlikely we'd be getting the 13th installment of the franchise in May with Captain America: Civil War. Downey is portraying Tony Stark in that film, and is set to play the character again in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1. But Iron Man hasn't had a solo film since 2013's Iron Man 3, and there aren't any on the docket of Marvel films planned through 2019. So does this mean we'll never get an Iron Man 4? Here's what Downey said on the matter in an interview with USA Today:

Opening quote
"In a way [Civil War is] Cap 3 but for me it's like my little Iron Man 4 and then it's back to the thing we all recognize. Everything pulls over to the side of the road when the thunder of an Avengers thing comes through because that's how it is until it changes. If it changes."
Closing quote

In other words, it doesn't sound like there's going to be an Iron Man 4. But don't fret, because more and more, Marvel is combining their heroes in each others films. They really don't do "solo" films like they used to. So maybe Stark will pop up in Spider-Man, or Black Panther, or Captain Marvel. The point is, even without an Iron Man 4, we'll still be seeing plenty of Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark around the MCU.
