Snyder and Capullo Reveal a Line from Batman #50 at C2E2
Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo took the stage at C2E2 today for a retrospective on their acclaimed 5-year Batman run. Their penultimate issue, Batman #50, comes out this week, and while Snyder's hint that "it's Alfred under the cowl" was probably a joke, Capullo had a fan come up on stage to read a line from the new comic:

"Bruce, is it really you?" "Hello, Jim. Who died and made you Batman?"

Batman #50 sees Bruce Wayne return to Gotham City to fight Mr. Bloom alongside Jim Gordon, so this is presumably the moment that he joins Jim in the battle. The issue hits comic book stores on Wednesday, and the next issue, Batman #51, was described by Snyder as "comfort food, with a twist. He said it's a love letter to the fans and a "very nice issue for Alfred," featuring Alfred thanking Batman for his new hand.

In addition to these tantalizing reveal, Snyder reassured fans that although his Batman run will be over soon, he has spoken to the next Batman writer and is "very involved in Batman stuff." In addition, he confirmed that he "has stories with the villains coming." He said he most wanted to write about Two-Face, so it's unclear whether a Snyder story for Harvey Dent is officially in the works, but it does seem that he is set to write about Batman villains.

Snyder and Capullo have already been confirmed to do another project together, and while they didn't specify what that project will be (they teased more reveals at Wonder Con next week), their friendship and positive working relationship was a major theme of the panel, and Snyder stated that their partnership would continue for a very long time:

Opening quote
"I'll be there every time he wants to do another book. Whether it's Batman or something else, I'll jump on it... So I hope that when we come back to this partnership, you guys are there for us, whatever we do."
