Daisy Ridley Might Be the Next Tomb Raider
Daisy Ridley immediately became an international superstar after playing Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and now the young actress may be looking to resurrect another sci-fi franchise.

Ridley confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday that she has had "conversations" about taking over the role of Lara Croft in a reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. The property is of course based on the popular video game series, and produced two films over a decade ago: 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and 2003's Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Those films each starred Angelina Jolie in the title role and brought in a combined $480 million worldwide. The first film remains the highest-grossing domestic film based on a video game.

So it's not surprising that Hollywood would want to reboot the property, and even less surprising that they would want the extremely hot right now Ridley to headline. And by the sound of it, the actress is very interested, as she told THR, "I'm waiting for someone to say 'I want you, let's do it.'"

Not only is Ridley interested, but her Star Wars co-star John Boyega also thinks she's tailor-made for the role. "I played Tomb Raider the game, it's a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version," he told THR. "But I texted Daisy [and] was like, 'this is you!' and 'you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.' She should be."

So will Daisy Ridley be the next Lara Croft? It sounds like she's just waiting for the call, and once she gets it she could further cement her status as the action star to beat for the next decade.
