Star Trek: The Animated Series Getting a Blu-ray Release
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, so to celebrate (other than with the release this summer of Star Trek Beyond), why not indulge in one of the more forgotten pieces of the franchise: Star-Trek the Animated Series

The series ran for just two short seasons from 1973 to 1974, and consisted of only 22 episodes, but it is notable for continuing the adventures of the original 1960s live action show and for reuniting most of the cast from that show a full six years before they all returned in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Now, Star Trek completists will soon be able to add a Blu-ray release of the show to their collections, as a new report claims that the series is headed to the HD format in time for the holidays this year.

Not only that, but new Blu-Ray releases in remastered 4K resolution are expected later this year for Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, Star Trek, and Star Trek Into Darkness. It seems like extreme HD really is the final frontier for the classic franchise... at least until transporters are invented.
