Batman v Superman Is the Top Pre-Selling Superhero Movie of All Time
If Batman v Superman came off as a desperate attempt to catch up to Marvel's cinematic universe, it probably was. And it also probably worked, as Batman v Superman has become the top pre-selling superhero movie of all time.

According to Fandango (via The Wrap), Batman v Superman has beat out previous top pre-selling superhero films The Dark Knight Rises and Avengers: Age of Ultron, and represents 90% of the ticket sales for this weekend. While earlier box office reports were tepid, the Batman-heavy marketing must have done the trick, because the most recent predictions are tracking BvS to make $350 million in their opening weekend. This would make it the second best pre-summer opening after Furious 7, which made $397.2 million.

Although it probably won't come close to beating Avengers' or Avengers: Age of Ultron's opening hauls, which both amounted to about $392 million, this is a far cry from the earlier estimates of $250 million. Plus, Avengers and especially Age of Ultron both had much more build-up from other movies, while BvS only has Man of Steel, and they opened in summer blockbuster season. Granted, we'll have to see how Captain America: Civil War fares in advance ticket sales, but for now, it looks like DC has won the day.
