Get Your First Look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens Deleted Scenes
There are seven deleted scenes coming with the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-ray release, which round out some new characters' backstories, introduce some of the old guard earlier in the movie, and more. Now EW has given us our first look at the cut footage through a few new stills, plus some production shots:

In the above deleted scene, Finn is still with the First Order. It's after his mask has been bloodied, but before the First Order rounds up the villages. FN-2187 comes across a woman behind a building, raises his weapon, and makes a "fateful decision." We can probably guess what it is, and it's not absolutely necessary to his arc, but it would have been nice to see more development of Finn's crisis of conscience.

This deleted scene will only be available digitally (but a free download will come with the Blu-ray). It takes place at Maz Kanata's castle, when the First Order attacks and Han and Chewie face off against a bunch of Stormtroopers in the basement. According to EW, Han saves the day with his trademark "smart-ass swagger."

In this deleted scene, Kylo Ren is inspecting the Millennium Falcon crash site with a band of Stormtroopers, and has conflicted emotions when he discovers that his estranged father is on Starkiller Base, because he's apparently "battling the pull to the Light Side." Could we see more of this redemptive quality in future films?

Other deleted scenes include an earlier introduction for Leia, in which she decides on a course of action after the First Order's massacre on Jakku, one scene featuring Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron leading a squad of pilots to the Starkiller base, a chase scene in which Rey and Finn hijack a First Order snowspeeder, and one in which Rey gets an update on Finn's condition (that one actually sounds very important!).

And here are some new (and somewhat sniffly) behind-the-scenes shots, just for good measure:
