Orphan Black Announces New Postmortem Talk Show, "After the Black"
Great news, Clone Club! Orphan Black is getting a Talking Dead-style aftershow starting in season four, a 30-minute talk show called "After the Black."

Clone Club

Like Talking Dead, After the Black will discuss the night's episode, preview the next episode, and reveal insights into the production of the series. It will also feature special guest appearances, starting with Kevin Hanchard and none other than Tatiana Maslany following the season four premiere.

The talk show was announced at tonight's WonderCon panel, which featured the showrunners, John Fawcett and Graeme Manson, as well as the men of the show: Kevin Hanchard, Jordan Gavaris, and Kristian Bruun. They showed a little snippet of new footage, which saw the new clone, MK, watching two people in EMT uniforms bury a body and make out with each other in a dark forest (no, really).

Fawcett and Manson were inevitably asked if Delphine is coming back, and Manson gave a tantalizing non-answer:

Opening quote
"Delphine had such a brave journey last year, and for us as storytellers, it's really a mystery, so there's not much we can say. But it is a big part of season four, what happened there."

This isn't an answer, of course, but it's hard to imagine that after all of this teasing, she'll just be dead. There's definitely more to the story, although knowing Orphan Black, the explanation likely won't be simple.

The showrunners also previewed the return of new clone Crystal, saying that she "plays a bigger role" in the season, and that she "definitely breaks a nail." Fawcett also recalled that Tatiana Maslany's improv skills single-handedly led to the development of the character in the first place, as she was originally just supposed to be a one-off:

Opening quote
"She was just a character that appeared in a surveillance video. I don't think she was supposed to live at all. I don't think she even had audio. But then Tat came and started improvising and riffing on this character, and I went to Graeme and said 'This is hilarious. She's really good at it, you have to see it.' So that's how Krystal came to be."

When it came to returning guest stars, they were understandably tight-lipped, and almost flat-out refused to answer whether Ksenia Solo would return (although there was a vague reference that went something like "we're always forging new relationships," which doesn't sound good). Similarly, they didn't confirm that trans clone Tony would come back this season, but they do seem committed to bringing him back at some point.

Opening quote
"I totally love Tony, and we really want to see him," said Manson. "I have an image in mind for when Tony does return, and it begins with a muscle car pulling up and the classic low shot of the door opening and panning up the legs, and Back in Black is playing while they wash the hood of the car."
Closing quote

Orphan Black season four premieres on April 14 at 10pm on BBC America. The first episode of "After the Black" will premiere immediately after, at 11pm.
