Deadpool Is Now the Highest-Grossing R-Rated Movie of All Time
While the too-big-to-fail BatmanSuperman turned out to be a huge disappointment and is only breaking embarrassing box office records, Cinderella story Deadpool is still breaking positive box office records. The little superhero-movie-that-could is still raking in the money worldwide, and has now become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

It was announced today that Deadpool has made more than $745 million in global box office, surpassing The Matrix Reloaded to take the No. 1 spot. In North America, it's now the third highest-grossing R-rated film at $349.4 million. It's set to pass American Sniper ($350.1 million) to take the No. 2 spot, but likely won't beat The Passion of the Christ, which stands at $370.8 million.

This may be the final record broken by the offbeat superhero movie, which came out of nowhere in no-man's-land of February to become the biggest R-rated opening weekend, the biggest opening weekend for a first-time director, the biggest 20th Century Fox opening ever, the biggest R-rated Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, the biggest February opening weekend, the biggest R-rated comic book movie, the biggest X-Men debut, and more. It's almost like people want to see well-written superhero movies (take note, Warner Bros.).

Deadpool is now out in theaters.
