Daisy Ridley's Audition Tape For Rey Is Amazing
It's safe to say that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been a success. It's also safe to say that the movie would not have worked as well as it did had it not been for the performance of Daisy Ridley as Rey. A relative unknown at the time of her casting, Ridley carries the film as its protagonist, and now the movie's Blu-ray release is giving fans a peek at how she got the opportunity to do so.

One of the "Secrets of The Force Awakens" special features on the Blu-ray is a clip from Ridley's audition tape. It's the scene where Rey is interrogated by Kylo Ren, and Ridley knocks it out of the park with a powerful, tear-filled performance. Take a look:

"It wasn't until we found Daisy that we just felt like she was capable of doing all of these things this character required," Abrams says in the clip. "When we brought her in, I asked her to do this one scene, it was this torture scene ... and she just blew my mind. She's reaching this depth of struggle, tears are streaming down her face, and I thought, 'This is unbelievable.'"

Finding Ridley wasn't easy, but it proved worth the effort. Now the future of the Star Wars franchise is in her hands, and we couldn't be happier.
