Disney Warns You'll Probably Be Crying After the Star Wars Rebels Season Finale
Looming over us like a deadline for that essay you never got around to writing, the Star Wars Rebels Season 2 finale has been the cause of much anxiety for Star Wars fans. While action-packed finales are normally meant to be things of joy and excitement for TV viewers, the climax to Rebels' second season brings with it some serious fears, and at a special screening of the double-episode, the team behind the show warned viewers that those fears might well be realized.

Unless you've had your head buried in a dune of blissful ignorance, you'll know that the fears surrounding tonight's Rebels finale are based around the long-awaited battle between Ahsoka Tano and the man who was once her Jedi Master during the Clone Wars. The knowledge that Darth Vader survives this battle leads to the logical conclusion that poor old 'Snips' won't. This week, before a special screening of the finale, viewers were warned that they "might all be crying,", but with so many players involved, that could be interpreted in a number of ways.

Kanan, Ezra, and Ahsoka will be joined by Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and at least three Inquisitors, meaning that, with the exception of Vader, any number of those could feasibly meet their maker. Filoni was remarkably tight-lipped on revealing any spoilers, and he certainly wasn't about to reveal what would be in store for his characters whenever it is Season 3 of the show comes to our screens.

The title of the finale, Twilight of the Apprentice, certainly seems to suggest that this could be Ahsoka's time, but when you look at the cast of key players it can actually be interpreted in a number of ways. Kanan, Ezra, Maul, and Vader himself could all be referred to as apprentices in some ways, so it might be best to stew on that as you wait for tonight's finale to roll around.

In many ways, Ahsoka's fate could be seen as a lose/lose situation for Dave Filoni and his team; kill off Ahsoka and fans will likely be grieving angrily, but keep her alive and we might see another portion of fans accusing Filoni of narrative cowardice. One thing is for sure, though....Twilight of the Apprentice is being reported as a huge moment for the Star Wars franchise, so you better be tuning into Disney XD at 9pm ET to witness it.
