Simon Kinberg Says We'll See "Familiar Faces" in the X-Men New Mutants Movie
Ever since it was announced that The Fault in Our Stars' Josh Boone was developing a New Mutants movie, we've all been wondering which young mutants would make the cut. Now, producer Simon Kinberg has revealed that we'll see some "familiar faces" from the X-Men movies, but didn't name any names quite yet:

Opening quote
"Traditionally, the New Mutants have some characters that cross over from the mainline X-Men movies," Kinberg told IGN. "As we are going, I would say it's likely that you will see some familiar faces."
Closing quote

There aren't too many characters that we've seen in the movies whom we would expect to see as part of the New Mutants Team, with the notable exception of Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Brianna Hildebrand's character was part of the New Mutants team in the comics, and was seen sporting the traditional yellow costume in Deadpool. She had a much less substantive role in the comics, but now that Deadpool is a huge success, and the character was well-received, there's a good chance she'll feature prominently in the New Mutants film.

Kinberg also teased that, like Deadpool, New Mutants will be a standalone movie with its own tone, specifically it will have "more of a YA vibe":
Opening quote
"Josh Boone and his writing partner [Knate Gwaltney] are working on the script," Kinberg continued. "They're doing a really nice job of it, and it's a really cool one, because in many ways, like, Deadpool was so different from the mainline X-Men movies, New Mutants… It's maybe not as different as Deadpool, but it has its own unique, original voice to it."
Closing quote

No release date for the New Mutants movie has been announced yet, but it is rumored to be the untitled X-Men film coming out on June 13, 2018.
